About This Event

A comprehensive 12-month mediation training that will equip you to offer services as a family mediator using an insightful and highly effective approach.

Join us on a journey of self-discovery and transformation!  We want you to succeed and stand out as an innovative family professional, who cares about their clients.

This course will benefit new mediators, as well as experienced professionals who want to sharpen their skills and deepen their approach to conflict. 

Participants will receive a complete syllabus for submission to any regulating bodies in their practice.  The Curious Mediator equates to 56 hours of live training at least 20 hours of guided independent study.

In this training, you will learn:

  • How to be a self-reflective practitioner;
  • How to be productively curious;
  • How to engage your clients in self-reflection and self-discovery that will transform their conflicts;
  • The importance of client preparation and how to use tools to effectively prepare clients for mediation;
  • How to become comfortable and skillful working with a couple in conflict;
  • How to keep what matters to the parties as the focus of option-generating and decision-making;
  • How to mediate a family conflict from initial engagement through to reaching agreement; 
  • How to transform your mediation practice; and
  • How to stand out as an innovative mediator in your community and attract clients.

Event Program

This training will include: 

  • A beautifully-designed, comprehensive workbook that includes skills, tips, assignments and templates you can adapt for your practice;
  • Pre-course reading and reflection assignments;
  • Pre-recorded video presentations; 
  • 42 hours of live sessions scheduled over a 16-week period; 
  • An additional 14 hours of monthly Individual and group practice sessions;
  • Access to our online community of like-minded family professionals; and
  • Ongoing support through monthly online gatherings.

The intensive portion of the course will run in 2-hour sessions over 16 weeks, and then the online learning will include assignments, practice sessions and monthly coaching sessions for a full 12 months.

Meet The Trainers

Jacinta Gallant, B.A. J.D Collaborative Lawyer and Trainer

Prince Edward Island, Canada

Jacinta Gallant is a respected Canadian collaborative lawyer, conflict trainer and innovator in her field. She is recognized internationally for her insightful approach to teaching and managing conflict, and has been welcomed as a trainer throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia. Her law practice, Waterstone Law Group, focuses on collaborative practice, mediation and negotiation. As a student of Dr. Cheryl Picard, the founder of Insight Mediation, Jacinta has spent many years challenging her own thinking about conflict and applying Insight skills and approaches to her training and law practice. As a lifelong learner, she continues to study and apply the principles and practices of Insight. Jacinta’s ultimate goal as a trainer is to help collaborative professionals engage with clients in a more meaningful way, manage conflict more effectively, and get more enjoyment out of this important work. And to support collaborative professionals to have deeper engagement with clients, she created innovative resources to help prepare clients to work with us! The Our Family in Two Homes resources help clients engage in their own self-reflection and discovery, to support deeper dialogue in their collaborative or mediation process.
